Latitude Announces Expansion into Indiana with Opening of Indianapolis Office

NASHVILLE (January 23, 2020) – Nashville-based Latitude announced that it has opened an Indianapolis office, expanding its legal services to Indiana corporations and law firms and deepening its pool of experienced attorneys and paralegals for its clients nationwide. Latitude serves law firms and companies by providing access to law firm-level attorneys and paralegals in substantive practice areas for short- and long-term engagements. These engagements allow law firms and companies to more effectively control their workforce costs, by up to 60 percent, increasing profits for firm clients and decreasing costs for company clients.

Latitude’s associate- and partner-level attorneys add capacity to corporate in-house teams during major business events, periods of peak demand and during hiring freezes, which helps meet tight budgets and reduce work overload. Latitude also helps law firms meet surges in client demand, reduce associate burnout and minimize fixed costs.

“Latitude’s growth is driven by our focus on attorney quality and a commitment to client success,” said Tim Haley, President of Latitude Indiana. “I am excited to lead Latitude’s expansion into Indiana. I look forward to extending Latitude’s commitment to quality to the businesses, law firms and government legal departments in our community and surrounding areas.” A native Hoosier, Haley joined Latitude after working as a Partner in the Indianapolis office of AmLaw 100 firm Barnes & Thornburg LLP, with nearly 600 lawyers across 18 offices nationwide. During his 14 years of practice, Haley advised and represented Fortune 500 companies, not-for-profits and privately-held businesses on complex environmental litigation, transactions, and compliance matters.

Latitude was founded in 2014 by former Bass, Berry & Sims partner Ross Booher and serial entrepreneur Ken Clarke. Booher observed first-hand the challenges law firm partners and in-house counsel face to reduce fixed costs, while also maintaining the right-sized teams given the unpredictable nature of law practice.

“I realized that corporate legal departments and law firms have a real need for high-end associate- to partner-level attorneys on a fluctuating basis,” said Booher. “I also wanted to create an alternative, sustainable career track for successful attorneys with sophisticated experience – one that offers interesting work, great clients, full benefits, high pay and flexibility.”

Over the past six years, Latitude has served clients ranging from Fortune 500 companies and large corporate law firms, to fast-growing start-up companies and boutique law firms. Latitude attorneys and paralegals serve clients both on-site and remotely in roles ranging from ERISA, litigation and securities attorneys serving in associate, counsel and partner-level roles in corporate law firms to environmental, IT and healthcare counsels serving in the legal departments of multi-billion dollar corporations.

“We are thrilled with our expanding footprint and the opportunity to partner with Tim to bring our high-end legal services to Indiana’s leading law firms and corporations. Tim’s deep knowledge of Indiana’s legal market and prior experience as a BigLaw partner enable him to understand the needs of Latitude’s clients and attorneys,” said Booher.

“Our attorneys are what distinguish us from other legal services companies. Almost all Latitude Attorneys were previously associates or partners at leading corporate law firms and most also served as in-house counsel,” said Latitude Tennessee Director of Legal Recruiting & Placement Katie Bennett, who formerly served as in-house counsel with UBS. “Clients choose Latitude when they don’t want to roll the dice on attorney quality.”

In addition to serving more clients, Latitude’s expansion also means more opportunities for those Midwest attorneys who would like to practice law in a slightly nontraditional way. Latitude attracts top-tier attorney talent by providing high pay, full benefits and a high degree of flexibility and autonomy. “Experienced attorneys and paralegals want to work with us because we allow them to cultivate a sophisticated law practice with flexibility and boundaries that support their priorities in and outside the office,” explained Bennett.
