Maria is a Director of Legal Recruiting and Placement and works out of the company’s Minneapolis office.

Maria helps experienced attorneys, paralegals, legal operations professionals and compliance officers transition into flexible contract engagement as well as permanent positions that align with their personal and professional goals.

Before joining Latitude, Maria served for 18 years as Chief Legal Officer and Senior Vice President of Advocacy at Children’s Minnesota, a 400+ bed pediatric health system in Minneapolis/St. Paul. In that role, Maria led the legal, compliance, risk management, information security and government affairs functions for the organization. She also oversaw the creation of the Collective for Community Health, which focuses on developing partnerships to improve community health and advance health equity. Prior to her position at Children’s Minnesota, Maria was an Associate General Counsel at UnitedHealth Group. Her legal career started at the Minnesota Attorney General’s Office where she advised government agencies on healthcare regulatory matters.

Maria earned her B.A. from the University of Minnesota and a J.D. from Mitchell Hamline School of Law. She is an adjunct professor and a member of the Health Law Institute Advisory Board at Mitchell Hamline.

Active in the community, Maria has served on several non-profit boards including the Children’s Law Center, Children’s Defense Fund – Minnesota, Way to Grow and Girls on the Run. She is a member of the Minnesota Bar Association and the American Health Law Association. Maria was awarded the Women’s Health Leadership TRUST Collaboration and Partnership Award in 2019 and was recognized as a Women in Business honoree by the Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal in 2013.

Maria and her husband Kevin raised their three sons in the Twin Cities. In her spare time she enjoys traveling and running marathons, which she combines whenever possible.
